Set in precolonial Zimbabwe’s Eastern Highlands, the Shona-Samanyika village of Mutambara thrives along the sacred Chipochashe River, guided by ubuntu and ancient lore. The river, rumoured to house vengeful njuzu (mermaids), becomes a source of terror when young girls, start vanishing at dusk.
